Help us pay off our mortgage!
What is all this?
We've been watching a programme on BBC 2 (in the UK) called "Pay off your mortgage in 2 years". To do this, as well as saving money and upping your mortgage payments, another part is maximising your income.
As Dawn and I are both web developers, the simplest way for us to maximise our income is to set up a web page where people can donate money to help us pay off our mortgage. To donate, simply click the PayPal donate button on the right.
Do you really expect this to work?
Well, why not? If we get enough people visiting the site, and each one of those people donates as little as 1 pound or 1 dollar, that soon adds up. Plus, even if you don't donate, we might make some money from the ads.
Isn't this a bit cheeky, what about other good causes and charities?
Yes, it is a bit cheeky, but you don't get if you don't ask! Secondly, charity begins at home. Thirdly, you're under no obligation to do anything, if you choose not to donate some money to us, that's fine, there are plenty of good charities out there that need your money more than we do.
How do I know this isn't a con?
Quite simply you don't. It is a judgement call on your part. However, if you've surfed the web as much as I have, you'll know con sites go for the hard sell, ask for personal information, and are often written in poor English. This page isn't any of those things, and we only take your donations via the secure and widely known payment service, PayPal. Secondly, you can validate that we exist by removing the mortgage part of the url above, and browse our blog and website, with photos of us and the house we have the mortgage for!
Note
If you donate money to us, this does NOT entitle you in any way, implied or otherwise, to any share or ownership of our house. Your donation is simply that, a gift to us from you that we will use to help pay our mortgage.
