Fifth Gear

Posted by Chris @ 8:29 PM

I'm the first to admit I'm not an avid viewer of Fifth Gear, but in the past have liked its format of informative car reviews and motoring stories nicely packaged up and shown with little chatter inbetween. So it was with some excited anticipation that I sat down to watch the new series of Fifth Gear on five last night, especially since they were talking about a new look and new format.

Sadly, I was disappointed. They have decimated it. Literally. Vicki Butler-Henderson and new boy Tim Lovejoy ramble on in their new cafe surroundings, and unlike Top Gear (which they are blatantly trying to copy), they are neither funny or good at acting (which is what they are doing, because no one in their right mind actually talks like that). It was actually painful to watch. And so with all this rubbish rambling the informative car reviews and stories have suffered and been cut back and dumbed down a little bit, which is a real shame.

I'll certainly not stop watching it just yet, but it might be a case of recording it on my fantastic Humax 9200t PVR so I can fast forward through all the shit, rather than watching it “live”. Did anyone else see it, any thoughts?

Front garden update

Posted by Chris @ 7:46 PM

Hello blog fans, just a quick update on our front garden. After we finished our makeover, it looked like this:

Front garden complete!

And now, only 2 months later, it looks like this!

Front garden in September!

The Sage has gone mad, whilst the English Lavender has flowered already! The French Lavender is bushing out nicely, as are the remaining herbs, and the spidery plants are looking healthy too. All in all its coming along nicely after 2 months, and weed control has been minimal (that's not to say we haven't had any!)

Holiday in the Lake District

Posted by Chris @ 8:41 PM

Firstly an apology for not blogging much this week, however Dawn and I have both been ill, and so not really up to much. Dawn, bless her, is still ill, but hopefully will be on the mend soon.

Anyway this post is all about our holiday in the Lake District with my mum and dad. It doesn't feel like it only ended a week ago, more like a month! Photos as usual are in the photos section. So what did we get up to? Well, here goes...

We're back, and Kasabian

Posted by Chris @ 8:06 PM

Just a quick post to say we're back from our holiday in the Lakes. We've had a great time, more on that and photos will come later this week.

On another quick side note have you heard Kasabian's new album / single Empire? Just wanted to say I really like their sound. It sounds to me, in my humble musical opinion, to be 70s rock inspired, and I think when you hear it on the radio it really cuts through the current crop of indie pop rock we've currently got as something a bit better. Worth listening to the single at the very least, well done lads.
